Condition - Very good vintage condition for its age.
This is a gorgeous 1940's handwarmer/muff style handbag.
These originated in the 18th & 19th centuries but were still very popular through to the 1940's.
The main purpose of a muff was to keep your hands warm in winter. However, because they were already carried at the front of the body, we started to see the addition of pockets, linings, or zipped compartments so that they could be used to carry small items and remove the need to carry a separate handbag.
This one is in very good condition for its age and is made from black Persian wool with suede trim.
This one is useable as a proper handbag and a hardwarming muff.
It fastens across the top with a metal zip and has one compartment to the inside with a small wall pocket.
It has holes at either sides for your hands to be placed inside to keep them warm. The inside is lined with a black satin lining.
With one suede top handle with gold tone hardware which is showing some tarnish.
It really is a great piece and the perfect addition to any vintage collection..
Measures 11" at its widest x 9.5cm length.
