Vintage 1960s EXTREMELY RARE RIKMA BY ROZI BEN YOSSEF Up To Size 12 Red Blue & Gold Stripe 100% Cotton Woven Long Flared Sleeve Kaftan

Has been freshly laundered so is ready to wear.

This is an extremely rare piece of vintage fashion history! There are not many of these about anymore and you are lucky if you can pick one up for less than £400!

"Rikma" was a fashion house founded in the early 1960s by Rozi Ben Yossef, In Tel Aviv, Israel. Originally from Bulgaria she moved to Israel in 1948 when she married Yosef Ben Yosef. Once there she discovered "Molidor" which was a cheap cloth used for towels, produced by both weaving and knitted. She began to produce this fabric in colourful stripes, which was she became well known for. She was heavily influenced by the patterns of the Middle East but looked to European and American fashion designers for her inspiration as she found the fashion of her homeland, in her words "mundane" with no glamour or edge. 

This kaftan, dates to the 60's and is a lovely example of its kind, showcasing her love of stripes. 

It is a woven cotton fabric in navy blue, red & yellowy gold stripes. With a metallic gold thread running through. 

It has a round neckline and fastens to the back with a zip.

With long flared sleeves. 

It is maxi in length and loose fitting at the waist and hips. 

Unlined.
