Vintage 1960s LONDON FOG MAINCOATS Size 10-12 Red Mid Length Coat

Brand - London Fog Maincoats, weatherwear of distinction.

Condition - Good vintage condition. The belt is missing and there is a small tear in the lining under the left arm on the inside. Reflected in price. 

Despite the name, these were made in Balitmore, USA. Founded by 16 year old Israel Myers. The copmany's fortunes began to change during WW2 when Myers accepted a navy contrast to produce waterproof coats for the sailors. Paving the way for the company's future success in Outerwear. After the war, they partnered with DuPont to develop new materials for use in raincoats. 1954 saw the introduction of London Fog's Maincoat which was first sold in Saks Fifth Avenue. Then in 1960s the company went public and then went onto have its own retail outlets, dominating the US market.

This is a late 1960s red trench style coat from the Maincoat range. It should be belted but sadly the belt is missing. Which I have reflected in the price. With the belt it would have been listed at £65.

Gorgeous red trench that fastens down the front with buttons 

It has shoulder epaulettes and long sleeves with tab and button cuff detailing. 

Large tabs style belt loops at the waist. 

With concealed side pockets. underneath the two front belt tabs.

It is mid length and lined with a red polka dot lining. 

Made from 100% textured polyester.

Labelled size 12 but I think best fit is size 10-12.

Please note that the coat is shown pinned to fit the mannequin.
