Has been freshly laundered so is ready to wear.
Fashion designer Tony Armstrong was known for his British couture & ready to wear designer clothing. In the 1960s he had his workshop based in Notting Hill. His beautiful clothing was retailed through high end department stores such as Harvey Nichols in London and I. Mangin in San Francisco. There are not many of his dresses around and are rare now.
This is one of his ready to wear dresses rather than couture. It is a gorgeous maxi dress made from a cotton mix fabric in turquoise, purple yellow & white abstract stripe print.
It has a collared v-neckline and it buttons down the front of the bodice with white buttons.
It is sleeveless and it fastens to the back with a metal zip and two hooks.
It has a pleated maxi length skirt that is lined.
Please note that the dress is being shown pinned to fit the mannequin.
Vintage sizes often come up smaller than modern day sizes. For this reason we measure each of our garments and estimate the modern day size of it based on today's fashion industry standards.
