Brand - Souleiado By Charles Demery.
Condition - Good vintage condition.
Has been freshly laundered so is ready to wear.
Charles Demery purchased a cotton printing workshop in Provence in 1930. Where he named it Souleiado which means “the sun’s rays shining through a cloud after a rain”
The print shop was not new. It has been producing colourful chintzy fabric since the 18th century, Known as Indiennes. He continued to produce those patterns using wooden print blocks that he inherited when he bought the workshop.
From the 1960s the dresses were starting to become popular in American carried at Bloomingdales and other department stores. Plus independent boutiques.
In the 80s Lady Diana was a fan of the brand.
This is a 70s sundress made from 100% cotton. In a blue & coral pink floral type print. With contrast border print.
It is a full wrap style dress that fastens at the waist with buttons.
It is mid length, flared and unlined.
With concealed side pocket.
Lovely for summer.
